Fall Activities

We've been pretty busy with a lot of fall activities since we moved back to Kansas. We've also have had a lot of Smith family time which we love. We wish the Patton side was closer so we could have Smith and Patton family time. Well anyway we've had a lot of fun. We went to the Louisburg Cider Fest which has a lot of family activities, a craft fair, yummy homemade cider donuts and homemade apple cider which you get to watch them make the cider and the cider donuts. It's a really cool thing to go to. The day we went it was real cold, but we all had a lot of fun.

It was then Halloween time and we had a ward Halloween Party with trunk or treating. At first Kaleb didn't know what to think then he realized that he was getting a lot of candy and he just kept going and going. He occasionally would put the bucket down and try to get candy out to eat.

We then had a Smith family Fall party with aunts, uncles, and cousins and had our own chili cook off with yummy desserts and pumpkin carving contest.

Lastly we have Halloween. We went trick or treating with Pappy, Nana, Aunt Selena and her daughters Jaedyn and Hallee, Aunt Shelby, Uncle Eric, Aunt Cindy and cousin Nick.

Nana and Pappy

Kaleb hasn't really liked being around my parents.  He doesn't really know them since we've lived in Idaho since he was born. After 2 weeks of being around my parents a lot Kaleb finally played with Pappy and crawled into Nana's lap by himself.

FUN and NOT so fun

In two days Kaleb will have been cancer FREE for one month! I know it's only one month, but one month is one month remission!

This past month has been busy, but we've also had some fun times too.

Some FUN things we've done:

* Adam and I went on a date to a Bill Cosby show on BYU-Idaho campus. This was AWESOME! Bill Cosby is hilarious!

* We had a chocolate fondue party with a group of friends. There was a fundraiser with Scentsy and Velata to help out with Kaleb's medical expenses and the lady that was running it sent us a fondue warmer and chocolates. It was a ton of fun!

* We've taken Kaleb to the free kid splash park. The first time we went to the splash park Kaleb didn't want anything to do with it unless I was holding him. BUT the second time we went Kaleb inched his self toward the water and he had a blast. He started to shiver so I had to take him out of the water which he did NOT like that.

* Adam had a job interview with Myer and Stauffer LC. We are still waiting to hear back from them.

* Father's day was a great day. I had made a cake for Adam that looked like a hamburger. Kaleb and I got him a drill, some drill bits, and a dad shirt.

Some NOT so fun things:

*We all got sick. Enough said.

*A lot of drama at Adam's work. Adam's the manager at Arctic Circle and he's really good at it, but he now has to deal with all the problems so work ends up coming home with his sometimes.

* Adam's been SUPER busy with school and work. School is starting to come to a close. A month from today Adam will be a BYU-Idaho graduate with a BA in Accounting and a minor in business finance. So he's been so busy with homework and getting ready for graduation.

* I've had a lot of my RSD flare ups. I have had really bad flare ups in my head and my arm for the past 1 1/2 and it causes a lot of pain so I don't do much when the flare up comes.

In any case it's been a good month. Please pray that Adam gets this job he's applied for. Sorry there are no pictures. I can't find the camera cord. I'll post pictures when I find it.

Week Update

So, can anyone else believe it's already JUNE? Time flies by when having fun!

Anyway, this week we've had big news. Dr. Meir called from Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City to tell us that Kaleb is cancer FREE! We are super excited! Kaleb will just have the occasional check up to make sure it doesn't come back. This week we also bought Kaleb his first pair of shoes because the little monkey is starting to walk. He still mostly crawls, but he's taken up to 20 steps without help, stopping, or falling. He's doing so good! We also bought Kaleb a forward facing car seat which is AWESOME! He loves it! We also went and got a cheap pool for Kaleb so he can swim this summer in our back yard.

My sister Amber has also made her mind up to come live with us for a little bit before her first semester here at BYU Idaho. She'll be here sometime in the beginning of July. It'll be fun to have her here with us.

On another note, we've been sick off and on this week. Kaleb had a high fever at the beginning of the week topping off at 101.8 which was real scary for me. He doesn't have a fever anymore, but he does have a runny nose and a cough. I also woke up sick with chest pain, nose and throat problems. Now, my dearest husband is sick with a fever. We are just a bunch of pathetic Patton's.

Well, that's it for now.

love,
the Patton's

Poor Little Kaleb

I'm gonna snap pretty soon. My poor baby, Kaleb, has gone through so much in just his short little life so far. When he was 7 months Kaleb had a tumor in his neck and had surgery to remove it. Latter we found out that the tumor was Fibrosarcoma Cancer. Then he went from doctor to doctor ending up in Salt Lake City's Primary Children's Medical Center where he underwent a cat scan. Now he is having another surgery on Wednesday to hopefully remove ALL the cancer. Today, Kaleb crawled off the bed and we hurried off to the ER and found that he had a minor concussion and a bad scratch on his little shoulder. My poor little man! He has been a trooper though! We can't wait until he's fully cured!! Keep praying for us!

Surgery

Yesterday Kaleb had his neck surgery to remove a big lump from his neck. Originally the doctor thought it was a Teratoma. When the lump was removed it ended up being a very large and very hard lymphnode which is not normal at all. There are very few things that cause this. One being lymphoma cancer. They sent the lymphnode for testing to a pathologist. We'll hopefully know the results by Monday.

Kaleb sleeping after surgery (blue foot is where the ivy is)
Still sleeping
On the right side of his face, Kaleb got needles poked into him for monitors during surgery.
Some of Kaleb's stitches. It was hard to get this picture without hurting him. I counted and total he has 10 or 11 stitches.

Kaleb's done ok. Yesterday when we got home he slept all day. He would wake up to eat for like half an  hour and then fall asleep again. He is eating pretty slow, but at least he's eating. He wants to play now, but he tries and then cries because it hurts him. So far today he's just been super fussy. Poor little guy!!

Kaleb's Little Life

Kaleb had his first noodle. He loved eating it, but half of it was outside of his mouth...

He was so tired. He was sitting next to me and fell asleep so I just let him lay down. Poor kid.

Kaleb crawling on the counter. He doesn't actually crawl yet. He gets on his hands and knees and doesn't know what to do. He wanted the BIG Hershey's bar.

My sweet boy is gonna be a pianist. This is his piano that he loves, but every time he see's a real piano he likes to bang on it.

This weekend we went to the pool and Kaleb absolutely LOVED it, BUT I forgot the camera! UGH! Oh well next time we'll get pictures.

Kaleb On The Move

Kaleb is on the move! Well, he's trying really hard to be on the move! Kaleb is always trying to crawl. He gets SO close then he face plants. Poor little guy. He is always pulling himself up on things because he also really wants to walk by himself. We hold him up and he's walking like there is no tomorrow. Since he can't crawl  or walk just yet he rolls and scoots himself where ever he wants to go. Kaleb has this fun dinosaur toy that Aunt Donna got him for Christmas and he likes to try and stand up on it. It's adorable. I don't think it'll be much longer before I have to guard cabinets from him emptying them. We're excited for him to be able to start crawling.
If the little man wants something...he will go and get it. What's with babies and technology??

Month of Love

It is now February, the month of LoVe! I want to just say that I LoVe my two boys! I LoVe Adam, my husband. On the 20th of this month we will have been married for a year and a half. Adam is my best friend and I don't know what I'd do with out him. If it wasn't for the LoVe Adam and I have for each other we wouldn't have our chunky monkey, Kaleb. We sure do LoVe Kaleb. He has only brought our little family closer. I can't imagine my life without my boys! They are everything to me!

Sweet Carrots

Kaleb is just like his daddy! He LOVES to eat! He eats and eats and eats! He can't ever get enough. Kaleb doesn't like formula so I can't use that to help him. I called the doctor and they said to start feeding him baby food. So we did.  Here is how it went!

At first Kaleb didn't know what to think, he liked it, then he made disgusted faces, then he liked it again! Hopefully, he continues to like it! I can't wait to experiment with other foods!
